Establishment
The foundations of VA-KO Vagon Konteyner A.Ş. were laid in 1963 at a small blacksmith workshop established by Talat Göçmen. The company initially entered the industry by producing horse-drawn carts; the welding and metalworking experience gained over the years paved the way for the establishment of VA-KO in 2007 in Beypazarı district of Ankara.

First Production License
Our company began production in 2009 as the first private sector firm in Turkey to receive a freight wagon manufacturing license outside of TCDD. This journey, which started with a team of 70–75 experts in a facility with 15,000 m² of indoor and 40,000 m² of outdoor space, continues today with 6 modern, robotized factories spread across a total of 159,000 m² of indoor and outdoor area in Ankara.

Opening to the Global Market
Between 2012 and 2015, VA-KO achieved a 95% preference rate in the Turkish private freight wagon market and completed the international certification process with TSI and ECM certificates. Our company is present in the global market with high-performance wagons and bogies that comply with international standards and are registered with the European Union Agency for Railways.

Leading Company in The Industry
Today, our company manufactures a wide range of railway vehicles, including intermodal wagons, flat wagons, tank wagons, bogies, and containers. In the near future, we aim to expand our product portfolio by adding box-type wagons. With its environmentally friendly production approach based on the principle of sustainability, strong engineering infrastructure, and R&D-focused vision, VA-KO is one of the leading companies in the railway transportation sector. VA-KO plays an active role in Turkey’s strategically important “Middle Corridor” and “Development Road” projects and continues its efforts to become one of Europe’s top three wagon manufacturers by integrating its domestic production power into global logistics systems.
